Unfortunately, Amazon has decided to charge over $100.00 more than the nearest competitor. I would have NO idea why.
So I purchased mine elsewhere, despite being a looooong time Prime customer.
The cage itself is perfect for rats (Or, I assume, Chinchillas, Degus, Gerbils, etc.). The Ferret Nation was what many of us who like to spoil our rats used, but the wire spacing was a full inch, and only larger rats, or male rats could usually be housed safely in them.
The Critter Nation is nearly identical to the FN, however, the wire spacing is 1/2 inch, and the wires themselves run horizontally, PERFECT for climbing ratties.
SUPER easy to put together, very spacious (be warned, these cages are MASSIVE), with plenty of adjustable shelf locations, and room for toys, hammocks, and goodies.
The manufacturer is exceptional, with a no questions asked one year warranty on all parts included with, in, or on the cage.
I can't recommend the cage highly enough. Amazon I'm a little disappointed in.

(More customer reviews)Firstly, this cage was advertised for chinchillas, ferrets and sugar gliders. This is NOT safe for chinchillas, I can't speak for the other two. The bars on the floor are too widely spaced for their feet and they might get them caught when jumping and injure themselves. The box actually says "Birdcage" on it, so I hold the seller responsible for advertising it for something it was not made for.
Also, unless you have someone handy at home who can help you put it together, don't bother buying it. It has incorrect directions with no writing, only pictures, but since the directions are incorrect it can be confusing on how to put it together.
Here's another example of poor workmanship and inferior quality coming from China. I would not recommend purchasing this item unless it's for a bird and you have a handyman at home to fix the bent metal and put it together correctly.

(More customer reviews)I bought this cage for my 2 rats. The bar spacing and size of it is perfect for two females with plenty of room for an igloo, hammock, and litter box. I took out one of the ramps & the HUGE wheel because they were unnecessary. It has two doors for easy access to both levels. It took me about 15 minutes to fully assemble the cage, however most of the time was spent attaching the wire portion to the plastic bottom and adding the levels. It was still quite simple to put together and should prove to be easy to clean. The ramps and levels can be wiped down with a damp cloth or baby wipe as needed. I would definitely recommend this cage for pairs of rats (3 or more might be pushing it, especially if they are males).

(More customer reviews)My only regret is that I didn't buy more!!!!!!! I have four rats and I use these as treats. I have only tried the fruit flavored ones so far. My rats beg for these things! I ran out quickly after my dog found the open container and helped himself to half! Even dogs like these things! I checked both PetCo and PetSmart. They sell for almost $4 apiece. Amazon has a good deal on these and I will definitely be buying more! High quality and easy to feed. Yum!

It has good sources of protein as proteins are the 1st two ingredients, however, I will always supplement my glider's food w/ fruit and vegetables. My gliders are picky and did not take to the food immediately but they eat it w/ no issues now. I will continue to use the food as a base as my gliders like it and it is reasonably priced. So many of the other glider food that is out there is over priced and you get the same thing.

(More customer reviews)I have had this cage for 3 years and have used it for up to 3 rats. Overall I have been pleased with the cage. It is a good size and you can arrange the shelves to your needs. I did replace the wheel with a Wodent wheel, which is safer for litle rattie toes. I did find the shelves difficult to remove and replace so I try to clean the cage with out removing them. Since they are plastic, the rats do chew the food cup, shelves, and ramps. I had one rat that chewed a hole in the bottom that was large enough for her to escape! It did take her a while to complete the project, the bottom is made of hard plastic. After that happened I thought for sure I would have to purchase a whole new cage. We do not live in a time where manufacturers make it easy to repair something instead of throwing it away and buying a new one. I checked the Super Pet website and was surprised to find that I could not only order replacement shelves and ramps but I could also replace the bottom. The cost to replace was much cheaper than a new cage. I hope to upgrade to a larger cage for the ratties soon, but I would recommend this cage as a good starter cage for rats.
