Air Hogs Sky Shark Replacement Wings Review

First, this toy is almost foolproof but not quite. Like any flying toy, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Before attempting powered flight, hand launch it like a glider to see what adjustments need to be made to keep it balanced. Remember, toy airplanes fly just like real ones. If you try to fly it right out of the box without proper preparation, the results would be the same if you hopped in a jet to fly it with no experience. After playing with it for about 30 minutes, we launched it under full power and were amazed.
The aircraft looked and sounded like the real thing and we ended up with every kid within a mile wanting to watch. It spiraled upwards and outward in an expanding radius. (be sure you have a large treeless park or cow pasture as we did). When the air ran out, the skyshark remained stable and made a better landing than some airliners I have been on.
It takes a little getting used to in order to launch. On occasion the prop will run in reverse but is easily stopped and restarted correctly.
I bought this for my 5 year old niece who already had a RC blimp (my favorite for inside flight) and she loved it. It is more suited for 10 and over, but with adult supervision is a really fun toy for kids to learn about aviation science and the forces that allow powered flight.
I am a retired employee of a major airline, licensed pilot with over 5,000 flight hours heavy jet and I had as much fun with this toy as the kids did... in fact, I bought myself one to play with too. I highly recommend this safe, fun toy.

X-Stream 5" Twin Pack Review

They fly, but they aren't like the slow balsa-wood gliders. They are more like projectiles. If you toss them by hand, you really need to get them going before they will fly nicely. Same thing with the rubber band launcher. If you don't give them enough oomph they will sort of tumble instead. That said, when you get them going, they go far. I think sometimes they fly more upside-down than right side up, but they still go. Took a little bit of instruction for our 4 year old to figure out how to use the launcher, but now that he has the hang of it he'll launch them across 2 rooms of the house, so we probably need to take them outside now. They were a little bit smaller than I imagined, but it does say 5" in the description. They seem pretty durable, but I don't think they'll last forever. They should last a lot longer than balsa wood.

It's only 5" long, but it's changing aviation history. Thanks to the internal wing design that's responsible for its "dynamic natural propulsion," the X-Stream Glider travels farther faster than any other glider - the instant you release it from its rubber band launcher. The light, flexible foam material it's made of helps ramp it up to warp speed, and also means you can play with it inside as well as outside the house. For ages 5 and up.
