(More customer reviews)we bought this chair to welcome our newborn. it was thinly padded. plus the recliner snaps back with every movement. when you sit in it the chair collapses forward. it creaks when rocking. we are so disappointed. the only positive is it fits in our space. but we hesitate to sit in it while holding newborn.

Shermag Cherry w/ Wheat Glider/Ottoman Review

(More customer reviews)After much research and the advice of BabyBargains, we decided to go with a Shermag but this lower end version. However it is great. It took my husband about 20-30 minutes to put it together. It looks great and matches our nursery furniture perfectly. I wanted a higher back to rest my head while feeding the baby. This chair is perfect. I am 5'7 and my husband is 6'. He fits very comfortable. I wish the cushions came in differnt colors as I think this will be hard to keep clean with a baby, but I just covered it with a pretty blanket that will hopefully catch any spills. I think it make a great addition to a nursery. We have have ahad it for a few weeks, but our Baby is due in Feb. So far so good.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this chair in May 2010 right before my son was born. I bought it because it seemed like such a good price and it was the same color and brand as my changing table. Well first off we had a hard time putting it together because a couple of the assembly holes were drilled wrong and didn't match up. Luckily my husband is a handy guy and just drilled new holes to make it work. My biggest complaint is it squeaks! I have to oil it at least once a week. Of course it always starts squeaking when I am nursing and rocking my baby to sleep. I wish I would have spent more money for a better quality chair.

The dark wood color and green chenille fabric look great. It goes perfectly with our dark espresso nursery furniture. It is very comfortable to sit in and I love that it came with the ottoman. Overall this is a great product at an affordable price. We are very pleased with our purchase!

(More customer reviews)There are so many gliders to choose from out there that we finally just settled on this one, mostly because the dimensions indicated that it had a relatively high back. We were glad we did because when we put it together the back was just high enough for my wife and I who are both about 6' tall. So if you have some height to you make sure you get a glider with a high back. So far this rocker has worked well, it was easy to assemble, and we're glad we bought it.

(More customer reviews)This is a great rocker. I got it to nurse my baby about a year ago and have been mostly pleased. It was easy to put together, has a tall back so I can rest my head and a wide seat for me and the little one. It glides very well and has yet to pinch my kids fingers and she climbs all over it. It does not come with the pictured foot stool - but I knew that before I purchased it. The part I don't like about it is the arm rests - they are attached with Velcro that is constantly coming undone - often loudly as I am trying to stand up with my sleeping bundle of joy in my arms. You'd think for this price they could snap them in place or something.

So I have been shopping for a glider and ottoman for my wife because we are expecting our first child in a few weeks. I shopped locally at a family-owned, higher end baby store as well as at various national chains for comparison of size, motion, and features. I was looking for a glider that would recline, as I imagine that we will be spending quite a bit of overnight hours rocking our little one to sleep. Reclining will allow us to catch a few zzzz's as well.
My process for shopping is always to find value. This glider has all the features of a higher priced brand. With the ottoman the cost was just about half of the pricier brand. I am usually skeptical when the deal looks that good, but I thought it would be safe, given Amazon's ease of returns.
I am happy to report that we are impressed with the glider. It is well constructed and very sturdy. I expected the glider and ottoman would require some assembly, and was nicely surprised when the ottoman arrived fully assembled in its box. The glider itself needed only minimal assembly and the instructions were clear and easy to follow--as long as you read *and* follow the illustrations. I got a little careless and missed a step because I wasn't reading carefully, but was able to back track easily and correct my error.
The fabric is light green microfiber and appears to be of a good quality.
I would highly recommend this to anyone shopping for a comfortable glider!

The quality seemed alright but it wasn't very comfortable as it is a very upright sitting chair. It was too high for me to rest my head on and the fabric was hard so my head couldn't just sink into the back. It was too narrow for my husband and the fabric on the side didn't cover very much so I worried about a baby's head hitting the side. Needless to say it went back to Amazon, I paid a little more and got a higher end rocker that reclined and was way more comfortable and worth it.

(More customer reviews)Very nice glider, especially for the price. My husband put it together in about half an hour, and it is very comfortable. The cushions are a bit firm, but not hard. I love it! I am 5'8" and fit in it just fine, and my husband who is 6'3" can sit in it but it's a little tight. Also the microfiber fabric is very easy to clean. I have gotten a few spots on it and it cleans up with just water, so the light color is not a problem at all. In fact for milk stains it is probably better than a darker color. Great deal--we are very happy with the chair and ottoman.

(More customer reviews)Day one-So far this glider ottoman is a great buy. It arrived in a large box. The box contained the padding, two very small packages of screws and hex wrenches, and two wooden rocker bases. The directions are straight forward and simple to use. Consisting of three pages with 6 steps. I assembled it in around ten minutes and it feels great. The wooden pieces came protected with foam padding and bubble wrap. The packaging and all materials were very clean. I found a few nicks on one corner, but it isn't visible unless closely inspected. My wife is very comfortable in this chair. It has plenty of room for breastfeeding. I will update this. So far, five stars!
UPDATE- The chair is a great chair for the price. It has plenty of room for breastfeeding. The chair has held up great to the kids climbing on it, extensive use, etc. It doesn't squeak or make any sounds after heavy use. The chair itself is very comfortable with extended use, EXCEPT the padded seat.
The cushion isn't the greatest. I had to replace the cushion the week of heavy use. It was no problem switching it out. You need to untie the strings that tie it to the back of the chair. After having to replace the cushion and spend another $25, I lowered my rating one star. I would still highly recommend this chair for the great quality and cheap price.
I will update if anything changes.

(More customer reviews)I finally purchased a glider to use with the new baby. After going to a couple stores and taking a look at the 200-300 and even 400 dollar ones we decided to go with this basic glider to save money for christmas and other necessities.
So far I have had it assembled 2 weeks and use it many times during the day to nurse and read books. The bottom cushion is a bit hard but honestly this glider is well worth the money if you are on a budget don't feel bad about getting this one over the more expensive ones. It is pretty and does the job just fine.
When it arrived there was a huge rip in the box and the outer corner of the glider was exposed. Thankfully it was packed with foam around the corners and did not sustain any damage.
Assembly was quite easy and the glider bottom comes assembled, the ottoman is completely assembled. So it was 8 screws I believe, to assemble this and my DH had it done in about 20 minutes.
It has a nice warm finish and should match well with other cherry furniture. The cushions are a sandy beige color and are attractive.
I'd recommend this as a nice glider for someone looking to save $$.
Update - March 12, 2009 - Still satisfied with the purchase, has maintained its quality and gets a lot of use.
Update - May 22, 2010 - Now a nursing/reading chair. Frequently used and in nice shape. Looking into getting a better cushion set.
