Radian RTF Review

Radian RTF

Ok, you have mastered the RC simulator on your PC, and the Ember 2 in your back yard...THIS is the perfect plane for #3. Great great great. My daughter (10) flies it every chance. It is not fully acrobatic as described in the first review (no ailerons), but it will do loops and spirals. Get it to altitude, shut the power down and enjoy some great gliding.

Equipped with 3-channel control and Spektrum 2.4GHz radio technology, the Radian can be flown without the worry or risk of interference. Although a powerful 480 brushless motor enables initial launch, the propeller soon folds back to reduce drag, freeing the plane to utilize thermals of air to remain aloft, instead of batteries. That means flight times for this quiet and eco-friendly alternative are much longer than they are with traditional electric aircraft, making a relaxing day in the great outdoors even better. Like all of ParkZone’s innovative and high-quality aircraft, the Radian looks great right out of the box and provides pilots with the control and reliability they seek in a park flyer. The plane’s large 2-meter wingspan and elliptical dihedral design improve flight performance and visibility from the ground, while plug-in wings provide for easy transportation and storage. Not only does the Radian’s lightweight Z-Foam™ construction offer the perfect balance of weight and durability, it also makes repairs simple and quick. Since everything needed to get the Radian airborne is included inside, you are only minutes away from the ultimate soaring adventure.

Easy Star Electric, RTF (colors may vary) Review

Easy Star Electric, RTF (colors may vary)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I asked friends about a simple plane to fly for a beginner they pointed me to the Easy Star. When I saw the price of the RTF (Ready to Fly) model I about $%*% my pants! It seemed awfully expensive for an airplane made out of foam.
I quickly realized why it was so expensive. The radio system is excellent. This isn't something someone put together with parts from Radio Shack. This is a quality plane made with above the bar parts.
Everything from the plane itself to the electronics will blow your mind. The wingspan is large enough to impress friends. The receiver is 4 channel and the servos are micro so this setup can be moved into another plane as your level of experience and tastes change.
I have crashed this plane once and my friends have crashed it twice. Well, to be honest, I have crashed it more than 10 times to varying degrees. But the only time it broke I just glued it back together. Now it is nicknamed FrankenPlane. You can barely see the cracks where I glued it, the foam hides them well.
If you are a beginner and you know you will crash, get this plane.
TIPS - When checking the center of gravity (you will see what I mean in the instructions if you are a complete newbie) make sure to hold it by your finger tips under the wings where the lines (you mark) are at, not the body of the plane. The wings.
Put a small piece of tape on the front and back of the canopy.
Glue in the tail and rear wings instead of using their included double sided tape.
Check and RECHECK the elevator (up and down flap on the tail wing) to make 100% sure it is moving up or down the way it is intended to! I didn't and it turned out the up/down joystick was BACKWARDS so on my first flight I promptly ran it into the ground. Because the radio system is top-notch, switching it is as easy as reversing a plug in the transmitter and the back is screwless so no pulling out and putting back in 8 screws like on other models.
Make sure you are 3 (three) miles away from any airfields that might have radio controlled planes flying on them. I found a perfect field to fly in and it turned out that a radio controlled air field was only a little over 1 mile away. That was my only big crash (from about 200 feet). Once the plane got about 1/2 a mile away from me it began to take its instructions from someone else at the airfield.

The Easy Star was designed for first-time pilots in mind, and offers incredibly stable flight characteristics and durability. Powered by a powerful Speed 400 motor mounted on the top so a hard landing won't break the prop or hurt the motor. The Easy Star flies with little input and has the ability to recover easily. Made from Multiplex's durable "Elapor" foam, the Easy Star will take a tremendous amount of abuse without breaking. And, if it does break, it is easily repaired with CA (super) glue. Even after many crashes during the learning process, the Easy Star will be ready for more and is sure to still be around to teach someone else to fly when other trainers would be ready for the trash can!

Cularis Glider/Electric Glider Kit Review

Cularis Glider/Electric Glider Kit
Average Reviews:

The Cularis is a great way to get a "full-house" (flaps+ailerons) sailplane without breaking the bank. I've had two of them now, and was able to get both of them built for about $700 each (after power system, receiver, servos, extensions, 3S 2100mAH battery, and a TON of thick CA).
It flys like a dream and is extremely durable due to the Elapor construction. Can be built as a powered sailplane with folding prop, or configured for aerotow or winch launch. The wing attachment system handles all of the servo extensions/connections so you can just snap them on and fly.
It'll perform decent aerobatics (for a 2.6M), looks great during a high speed pass down the line, and can slope/thermal soar like a champ. With a decent computer radio there are a ton of mixing options you can set up to maximize camber-control and flight mode configurations. With full crow braking deployed, it'll slow down in a heartbeat and allows a near-vertical descent to a spot landing.
Get one.

Megatech Prowler 3 Channel Remote Control Glider Review

Under powered for the size of plane it is. The NiMh batteries don't hold much of a charge .Maybe I just got a bum set! Not very likely that there were two bad batteries in thr same kit. I still have not had it in the air for more than a minute. I wish I had bought a Radian from ParkZone for a hundred dollars more.

Easy Glider Pro Kit Review

This plane was my first one and am still enjoying it a lot. However, before taking this plane on its maiden flight, I would highly recommend practicing the control on a computer simulator. While in the air, the plane is very smooth and respond slowly allowing the user to keep control in case of a mistake.

The EasyGlider PRO is an updated model based on the popular and proven EasyGlider and EasyGlider electric. Just like the larger Cularis the Easy Glider PRO can be built as a pure glider or as an electric by adding the optional power pack. The Easy Glider Pro’s flying characteristics are perfect for the beginner, although this by no means implies that the more advanced pilot won’t enjoy it - quite the contrary. If you are an expert you will soon discover that the EasyGlider PRO has the kind of performance only seen with much larger and more expensive gliders.
