(More customer reviews)As a very amateur RC plane enthusiast, I have tried (and crashed) several different airplanes from Air Hogs, Estes, and others. This is the only plane that I was completely unable to get into the air before it self-destructed. As another review states, the controller seems to lose touch with the plane. The "motion" controller is not really motion sensitive--it is only "on/off" for direction, which makes it very difficult even for an adult to try to fly, much less give it to a child. The plane always took a nose dive to the left as soon as it got airborne, no matter which direction the control was in. After an hour or so and many crashes later, it finally hit the ground with the wing and broke it off at the motor--completely unrepairable. We have an Air Hogs Jet Scream plane that I finally got comfortable with, and it is MUCH more durable and more fun that this Viper. No matter how many crashes with the Jet Scream, it has virtually no damage because it is so lightweight. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this plane, unless you really want to torture a 10 year-old and his dad.

RC Airplane Super Sonic Review

(More customer reviews)Another purchase for my grandson and although he is enjoying playing with it, it is a mess. Plane is all styrofoam and had to be put together. First time he flew it, it flew for about 10 seconds and crashed down nose first. Pushed the nose inward and all the wings fell off. Lost the landing gear. Had to keep repairing it with packing tape. Antennea broke off of the radio controller. All this happened within the first half hour. Wouldn't recommend this at all. But the grandson loves it. lol

Star Trek Classic Enterprise 27MHZ Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this for my husband and he was looking forward to flying it all week. Upon actually taking it out into a grassy field, he was finally able to try it. This was a lot of fun until about the third landing. Then the flimsy Styrofoam body began to break down. Once this started, he couldn't control it, and the landings did progressively more damage. For the price, I would expect to have more than one play-session out of the toy. I understand it is basically a foam glider, but we expected it to last longer than a day. My poor geeky husband was very disappointed.

(More customer reviews)I have had two flights, fast but not super fast. I am still trying out props and adaptors looking for the right wattage for my setup. A 10x6 folding prop pulls about 300 watts, about where I want to be (a 9x6 fixed prop pulls about 400W). This was a time consuming build. A lot of fiberglass reinforcement has to be glued in slots provided on both the fuselage, wings and tail. All in all, I think I will be very happy with it. It is beautiful to look at, as fast as my skill level, and very stable in the sky. I recommend the "Blizzard" to anyone who has the patience and time to put two or three days into assembly. I think it is worth it.

It's not an airplane, it's not a helicopter, it's not an autogyro, it's not an ornithopter with flapping wings. It's a powered maple seed. I'd have never thought of it, and you probably wouldn't have either, but the Wowwee designers did, and they deserve lots of credit for this masterpiece of out-of-the-box thinking.
I read about it in the magazine of an engineering society that I belong to, and the reviewer couldn't figure out what kind of "control equation" allowed an object with no non-rotating reference elements -- everything on the Bladestar spins -- to operate under directed flight. He must have come from the same aeronautical tradition as the ones that proved that a bumblebee can't fly. (We now know that insects use nonlinear "unsteady flows" to gain more lift than traditional aerodynamic equations provide for.)
While the Bladestar employs "AI" according to its advertising, it's not as smart as a bumblebee. But it can successfully avoid light-colored objects under good conditions. In the jargon of AI research this is called situationist autonomous control. If the room you're flying it in has dark walls like my living room, you'll have to guide it away from them yourself. The blades do collect dings if you fly it into hard objects, but the wingtips are covered with heavy foil that you can smooth out and it's nearly as good as new.
It naturally hovers very stably, so you might expect it to respond to the controls like a UFO in a video game, but no, this is a real flying object with gyroscopic effects when it tilts to move sideways. It takes a little bit of practice to learn to anticipate these movements and coordinate the controls appropriately. I was practicing landing on target after about 5 flights.

Not very likely that there were two bad batteries in thr same kit. I still have not had it in the air for more than a minute. I wish I had bought a Radian from ParkZone for a hundred dollars more.
