(More customer reviews)We purchased this playset for my son's first birthday, and we're very pleased! Although he's too young yet to climb ON the toy, he has a great time crawling through the castle and around and under the swing. We can also help him go down the slide, which he loves! He will definitely grow into this adorable and durable playset and it will get more and more fun as he gets older.
We have it in his indoor playroom, which it is sized perfectly for. It would also work well outdoors. The swing is a bit of a clunker, however. It doesn't swing very high, and only keeps his attention for a few minutes. That would NOT influence my decision, though, and I would purchase this set again if I had the chance!

(More customer reviews)This was purchased for our baby, who is due May 5th, back at Christmas time by Grandparents. It hadn't been released yet by Fisher Price so we just received it today. Even though I hadn't seen this in stores, I like new products and am easily swayed by new "features"! My 10 year old daughter and I put it together. It was easy enough as long as you follow the directions. The seat is a nice soft micro plush fabric and will be easy to take off and put on for washing. I really like that this product swings and glides and you can turn the seat to either cradle or swing. The "gliding" is actually just moving back and forth without a swinging motion. Still it's a nice feature as you don't know what your particular baby will be happy with. LOVE that this swing plugs into the wall (though you can put batteries in it if you want) !! That was actually the main feature that drew me to this swing. Hated the old swings that ate batteries. I also like the head support as well. Oh and the songs and nature sounds are awesome and the volume control great! Plus the foot buttons are really great too. So here are the drawbacks that made this swing only earn 4 vs. 5 stars: first is that the seat sits quite low. While I know most swings do sit low, I thought this one was a bit higher. I am 5'7" and will be bending down quite a bit to put the baby in. The "seat recline" is really two options, really reclined or reclined and that's it. I found there is really not much difference between the two options. But my biggest complaint is the mobile. Though really cute and I love that the bottom is a mirror for baby to look at, it doesn't move at all. The butterflies are plastic and I guess the baby could bat at them. It's quite low to the seat and is really in the way when it comes to putting baby in and out. There is no way to swing it out of the way so you'll have to tip baby head down a bit to put in under the mobile and into seat while bending down. It's annoying but I still really like this swing and would recommend it. It is ALMOST the perfect swing!

(More customer reviews)I will agree with the previous reviewer that the assembly instructions leave a bit to be desired. In particular:
1. The infant seat legs can be installed backwards (and it looks like it would take a screwdriver plus a lot of elbow grease to ease the locking "tabs" back out to separate the parts again -- I was lucky and guessed right the first time)
2. There's some white foam wrapped around the inner support bars of the seat frame that have a "do not cut" sticker on them. That does NOT mean "find some other way to remove this packing material besides cutting it off".. those styrofoam pads are supposed to STAY on the bars (as cushioning since they are right next to the baby under the seat material), so DO NOT REMOVE THEM at all. The tubes are white (i.e. don't match the rest of the swing) which makes it look as if they don't belong in the assembled product at first, so it would be easy to mistakenly rip them off in the initial frenzy of unpacking.
3. Yes, the mobile plug has 3 prongs and the socket has 4, but push firmly and everything snaps together fine. The mismatch prevents the mobile from ever coming back out. Fortunately, you can't accidentally install this part backwards. :-)
As for the swing itself, it's great! I didn't think we'd really use the removable infant-seat feature, but it comes in really handy: when kiddo has a wet diaper, I can just pick up the entire chair off the swing (with baby strapped into it), walk to the room with the changing table, and put him down while prepping the wipes and new diaper. The built-in, foldover blankets are a nice touch. The "Zen" music is just new-agey versions of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and a few classic pieces, but is still less jarring than standard baby-gear music.
Switching the swing direction from side-to-side to fore-aft direction is best done by picking up the infant seat out of the socket, rotating it, and then reseating it. It is possible to rotate the chair without picking it up, but it takes a fair amount of force and would be quite jarring to any child who was actually seated in the chair during that operation.
The swinging action is smooth and quiet. There's just the tiniest bit of sway in the frame itself with each swing because of the slight gap between the legs and the sockets in the motor housing where they snap in. It doesn't bother me (i.e. there's no accompanying rattling noise and the swing is still rock-solid), and could probably easily be remedied by shimming the gap with some paper.
The mobile doesn't move on its own. And the stripe pattern on the parasols is not reproduced on the bottom which seems a bit silly to me. (i.e. you and I see a high-contrast pattern from the top, but the baby just sees a uniform brown disc of plastic from beneath -- whose visual acuity is supposed to be stimulated here anyway?) It is nice that the mobile swings out of the way. Getting the baby in and out of the swing is a breeze.
Overall, very happy with this purchase. The design, materials and operation are solid. I withhold one star because the assembly instructions really don't cut it.

(More customer reviews)I got this swing this past summer and am very glad I decided on this one instead of any of the others available. I looked at some of the metal swings but didn't want to be pulling cushions off every time it might rain so ruled those out. This swing needs no cushions. I was looking for something low maintenance, and this is it. There's nothing on this swing that's going to rust. The angle of the back and seat make it very comfortable to sit on for more than just a few minutes. You're leaning slightly back while seated and have plenty of back support. The seat is contoured, not just an uncomfortable flat bench seat. The front of the seat is curved so there are no boards poking you in the back of your legs. The cedar looks nice as it gradually weathers, and it doesn't need paint or stain unless that's the look you want.
Overall, this is a great patio or yard swing and it seems it will be durable and last a long time. As usual, it's worth the extra $$ to buy quality.

However, the frame I used had some rusty water inside and it stained the canopy so I was unable to return it. I did call your number and talk to a representative, but the large size you had, wouldn't fit either.
I did put down the information I had when you indicated you would search for a source who might have the proper size, but have not received a reply.

(More customer reviews)The price was awesome. The swing is a little flimsy but is strong enough for the wife and I to enjoy the sunset on. The chains and anchors for hanging it are good quality. Assembly took 10 minutes with a pair of pliers and an 11mm socket. I stained it with elmers weather sealer with tint. It looks great, functions well, and was easy to do. The only reason I gave it a 4 was because it is not as sturdy as I would prefer (add 2x4s and it is), the box arrived open, a hole in the side of the box, a broken slat, and a washer missing. I do not blame the damage on the seller though. It was most likely the shipper.

(More customer reviews)Item was received damaged. Two pieces on the back side of the backrest had been broken off in shipment which compromised the wood on the backrest. Also, one of the pre-drilled holes on the base was absent. The wood is also of varying quality. It wasn't bad but the wood is not as pristine as the product shot. I ordered a replacement and will try one more time before giving up on this.
UPDATE: The item was again received damaged, but it was minor and in an inconspicuous place so I just glued the wood back together. The problem this time is that halfway through assembly we found that the slats for the backrest did not fit into the predrilled holes in the arms. I believe the back was assembled wrong, as the arms look just like they look in the picture. I give up. Amazon should pull this item. Customer service was very good but dealing with this was a total waste of two weekends.

5' Cedar Porch Glider, Amish Crafted Review

(More customer reviews)The glider was delivered quickly and was very easy to assemble. My wife and I put it together in less than one hour working at a leisurly pace. The only minor issue was that it uses eight screws and the screws provided are square drive rather than phillips drive. I didn't have a square drive but I had some similar size screws in the garage so I made the switch. Otherwise all you need is a couple of wrenches and maybe a hammer for tapping things together.
The wood was fairly smooth on the flat surfaces but the edges were a little rough. I thought about sanding the glider but decided against it. All we did was coat it with water seal. I suppose it would be a bit nicer if sanded but it works for us.
My wife and I are both hefty so I was a little concerned about the capacity of the glider. In fact I purposely bought a wood glider for ease of repair if it broke down. We have only used it a little but it seems like it is going to be strong enough to hold us (500 pounds total).
All in all I am pleased with the product.
